Novice & Intermediate ADV Rider Training
Novice is for the new or new-to adventure rider. Based in the CLEAR Moto Five Foundational Skills, we’ll build up a rider’s basic skills of operating a motorcycle off-road.
Intermediate is for the next level rider. Those that have completed Novice and/or already have the basic skills and are ready to begin fine-tuning their motorcycle control.
-
The adventure riding segment is on fire! Many want to transition to adventure riding, but don’t realize that their street riding skills are not enough when riding off-highway. Give your customers a day or two of building up their Foundational Skills in our Novice ADV Rider Training.
Save your customer’s body parts (and their new motorcycle) with an intro/refresher ADV riding course. Hosting an event like this can build solid rapport with your customers.
-
The Novice ADV Rider Training will focus on the CLEAR Moto Five Foundational Skills.
Vision
Balance
Clutch control
Throttle control
Braking control
The following are the exercises your customers can expect to experience.
Bike Pick-Up Techniques
ADV Ergonomics (off-road only)
Clutch Control
Riding Body Positions
Braking Exercises
Tap and Go
In-Line and Off-Set Weave
Circles and Figure-Eights
Games or a short trail ride (if available) to end the day (time and rider energy permitting)
-
The Intermediate ADV Rider Training will focus on the CLEAR Moto Five Foundational Skills.
Vision
Balance
Clutch control
Throttle control
Braking control
The exercises will be more challenging than those found in the novice level course.
Riders can expect all the same skills found in the novice course, just at a higher challenge level. Plus…
Terrain Element Exercises (depending on the availability of terrain)
Sand, Gravel, Rocks, Ruts, Hills
Please note that the skills and exercises are more challenging than what is found in novice. The basics remain constant throughout all levels. Think of it like soccer. A player has always and will always kick the ball, it just gets more complex over time, practice and experience.
-
In-Person, live coaching
Engine-on, and motorcycle riding
-
One or Two-day options
6 hours of training (per day)
1 hour lunch
7 - 8 hours in total per day (for rider arrival and departure)
-
Outdoor
You must help provide the off-road space for training, ideally a half acre or more. Primarily flat with some hills is best, but we can be flexible.
Contact us to discuss the area(s) you have in mind and how we can make that work for either the novice or intermediate level courses.
-
15 riders max
Keeping the class size smaller allows for more individualized coaching.
Smaller than 15 riders per class can be accommodated for an increased per-rider cost.
-
Riding exercises begin with a short discussion explaining the goal and practical use of the technique. Once we begin riding, riders can expect to be standing on the foot pegs a lot. There will be pauses and breaks between exercises for snacks, water, and to use the bathroom. Riders will be mounting and dismounting frequently for explanations, demonstrations, and discussions.
Riders will have the opportunity to ride in the dirt with professional instruction and guidance. Motorcycles and people may end up on the ground. We ask that you help get your customers ready with accessories and gear prior to starting their training.
All riders read, agree to, and sign waivers from CLEAR Moto and our insurance provider. Your dealership is welcome to add your waiver or additional forms to be signed as well.
-
Space: ½ to 1 acre or more of primarily flat terrain for 15 students. Smaller space can be used for a smaller class size.
Clear communication regarding the training area is vital for us to prepare to offer your customers the best experience.
CLEAR Moto does not provide food or water. We encourage you provide that for your customers if you’d like. We do ask students to bring their own snacks, water and lunch.
Keep in mind the availability to a restroom at/near the training area.

Moto Games or Challenge Course
Moto Games are games designed for motorcyclists. Think slow races, one-handed riding, and elimination games.
Challenge Course is built to challenge a rider’s skill. Tight cone courses, intimidating ribbons courses, and the added pressure of competition.
Both Moto Games and Challenge Courses can be either on-road or off-road.
-
Get your customers engaged with some friendly competition. Cassie Maier will set up a course with varying challenge elements which will test a rider's skill and have people cheering and laughing.
Choose pavement, dirt, or a combination of both.
Moto Games and Challenge Courses are a great way to strengthen rapport with your customers.
-
Moto Games:
The course is built with rider against rider challenges. Think slow races, or elimination games.
Challenge Courses:
Are one rider at a time and are typically scored and timed. Comprised of tight obstacles such as ribbons courses and figure-eights.
-
Engine-on, and motorcycle riding
Friendly and fun competition
-
2 - 6 hours to create a course (day before)

-
Unlimited.
Based on how many riders and spectators the space can accommodate, and how much time you want to spend.
Example: If a challenge course is designed to be completed in 4 minutes and you have 20 riders that will take one hour and fifteen minutes. That doesn’t include the flip time between runs.
-
Cassie Maier has competed in the GS Trophy Qualifier and has built challenge courses in the past. She will ride all elements of the course to ensure it is rideable.
Cassie will need one full day to set the course. The games or course can be designed at any difficulty level.
It is up to you if you would like to award prizes based on score. Riders and spectators alike enjoy the Moto Games and Challenge Courses. Door prizes are a nice touch as well.
Note: It is not uncommon for a motorcycle and its rider to end up on the ground. CLEAR Moto will provide insurance for the event.
-
Space enough for the course. If Cassie is driving to your event she will supply what she needs. In the case she is flying in, please help provide cones, clipboards, paper, and pens.
Prizes are optional (if you want to provide them).
Cassie will also need time enough to set up and test the course BEFORE riders arrive. Generally the day before.
A few volunteers to help with scoring and rider organization would be a great help.
-
Moto Games and Challenge Course are customizable and built on and around the terrain available. We can discuss what difficulty level you want for your customers.

Demo Rides
Demo Rides are dealer supported and supplied. That means you’d supply your own demo fleet. Using the models that are already in your dealership for riders to test ride. All demo rides are in a group, lead by Cassie.
Cassie worked for the BMW Motorrad Demo Truck for six years.
-
Bring your customers together for a day of demo rides. Let them ride and fall in love with a BMW. This demo ride experience uses your dealership's current demo fleet.
Because it is your demo fleet, you get to choose the available models for rides. You can also make the ride any length you want.
Cassie worked on the BMW Motorrad Demo Truck for six years. She can help recommend or build a route for the demo ride if you don’t already have one or want something different for this event.

7 - 8 hours total (time for set up and breakdown)

Example: Rides go out at the top of the hour (then switches to the bottom of the hour after lunch).
-

-

-
Cassie Maier worked on the BMW Motorrad demo truck for six years. She understands the process and what customers want from a demo ride experience.
This Demo Ride experience is all yours. You can make the rides longer, group motorcycle-types together, and/or have Cassie dive deeper into the tech on models pre ride.
We'll discuss how long (time and distance) you want each Demo Ride to be and go from there. Creating a demo event that is custom to your dealership and built for your customers.
-
Your dealership demo fleet is needed for the Demo Rides.
It is much preferred (if possible) to have a sweep rider. That can be one of your staff, or a trusted friend. The person you choose will be representing your dealership and the BMW Motorrad brand during the Demo Rides. Please choose wisely.
When possible, it is best to stage the demo motorcycles on a flat surface with easy entrance and exits.
If Cassie is driving, she will provide her personal 2022 R 1250 GS as a lead motorcycle. If she is flying, please provide her with a motorcycle for the Demo Rides event.
-
This Demo Ride event is dealer supported and supplied, meaning you will provide the motorcycles you want to for the rides.
No more than seven motorcycles per demo ride. You can have as many models available as you want.
Cassie will provide sleeves/pockets for keys that will be attached to the motorcycles (so no one walks away with a key in their jacket pocket).
She’ll also provide and organize color coordinated wrist bands that correspond with specific ride time slots. It is recommend that riders can only reserve their desired model and time at the time of the event.
-
CLEAR Moto will provide insurance for the event, which would cover the ride. It does not extend to cover the motorcycles or your dealership. That would fall under your own policy for a standard demo motorcycle.
We recommend that all riders sign your dealership waiver and/or demo form.
The insurance does not cover damages to your fleet from something like a tip-over. You will need to take that up with the customer.
-
Demo Rides are designed to be based off a standard demo event, and can be customizable if you want something a little different.
Cassie will help guide you as she has many years experience on the BMW Motorrad demo truck.
